April 5, 2022
Dear Cyclone Families,
Students in grades 9-11 will take MAP tests April 11 and April 12. These tests allow your studentβs learning to be tracked throughout the year in Reading, Language, Math, and Science.
Why is the MAP Growth test important?
MAP tests provide immediate and accurate information about your studentβs learning and teachers use the results to plan instruction.
At Bishop Ward we use MAP scores to determine course placement for your student.
How does the test work?
MAP tests are unique because they adapt to your studentβs level of learning. If your student answers a question correctly, the next question is more challenging. If they answer incorrectly, the next one is easier. This results in a detailed picture of what your student knows and is ready to learn.
What about my studentβs test results?
Following each testing period you can request a report showing your studentβs growth.
Teachers will review these reports with students during Wednesday Advisory.
Our school-wide goal is the 75th percentile because this score indicates college readiness and a possible score of 21 or higher on the ACT. We are truly excited to focus on your studentβs individual growth and achievement. For more information about the MAP Growth test, visit: NWEA.org/Parent-Toolkit.
Sincerely,
Dr. Emily Saatcioglu - Academic Dean
