With the 'Spirit of Bishop Ward' Scholarship Dinner behind us, we wanted to share an AMAZING update on the evening. For the first time in the event's history, we raised over $115,000 for student scholarships! This would not have been possible without our amazing sponsors, donors, guests & other friends of Bishop Ward. We can already confirm that this event will be held out at Children's Mercy Park again, so mark your calendars for the month of April! We received such positive feedback about the venue, our program and the overall elevated 'Spirit of Bishop Ward'. Without this type of support from our donors, Bishop Ward students would not be able to attend our school to receive a well-rounded Catholic education, so cheers to you all!

We would like to congratulate our 5 seniors who have signed letters of intent to continue their athletic careers at their respective schools. We are proud of all their hard work and determination they put in during their time at Bishop Ward. Those 5 seniors are: Juan Delgado Medina - Lincoln University FB, Christian Brown- Highland Community College FB, Immanuel Campbell- University of Saint Mary MBB, Brice Johnson Jr. - Highland Community College FB and Roderick Strong Jr. - Highland Community College FB. On Apri 12, we had the pleasure of hosting, General Kevin P. Chilton. Gen Chilton served 35 years in the US Air Force and was selected as an astronaut for NASA in 1987. And that's a wrap! The seniors have taken their final final and are officially done with high school. We want to congratulate them for all their accomplishments these past four years. We will celebrate them next week with Baccalaureate Mass Monday May 8 at 5:00p.m. at St. Mary-St. Anthony's Church and Tuesday, May 9: Graduation Ceremony at 7:00p.m. at Memorial Hall.

Following today's senior Mass, we had the pleasure of announcing our 2023 KC Scholars recipients! Congratulations to this years winners! Yasmine Caro, Luz Castro, Lorenzo Fernandez, Emily Jimenez, Arely Romero-Salinas, Daniel Sandoval Roberta Sustaita, and Miguel Valdez.

In celebration of Admin assistant day yesterday, we would like to thank Mrs. Sanchez and Mrs. Reed who manage our front office!

In support of nonviolence and to express solidarity, Bishop Ward students marched twice around the school building today, April 25. The rally was organized by the Black Student Union after the shooting of their peer, Ralph Yarl, when he went by mistake to the wrong house. Before the march, the students gathered in the auditorium for a brief history of nonviolent protest.

Field day 2023 is in the books! Students enjoyed various games, activities and new to this year the dunk tank!

Today we had a panel of Senior give their advice to a group of freshmen and sophomore young men. It was a great experience for our students to hear from their peers how to navigate life and the challenges that come from being in high school. Way to Go Cyclones!

Congratulations to Senior Carol Naomy Baca who recorded a "No Hitter" in last week's doubleheader with Sumner Academy. The Cyclones will take on St. James Academy in a doubleheader today at Wyco Fields with games starting at 4pm. Way to Go Naomy!

Play ball on all fields tonight. The Cyclones will be in action at home and on the road tonight. Baseball travels to St Thomas Aquinas, Softball making a long trip to Atchison, and Girls Soccer will host Cristo Rey tonight. Bundle up and get out there and support your cyclones tonight. When our city has previously celebrated World Series and Super Bowl championships, this has created a tremendous impact on our entire community, which has put a strain on staffing, student attendance, and transportation. We anticipate this will be the case on Wednesday Feb. 15. Should the celebration be postponed, we will communicate any schedule adjustments." "¡Felicitaciones a los Kansas City Chiefs! Due to inclement weather, Bishop Ward High School is closed today, Wednesday, Jan 25, 2023. Classes will resume Thursday, Jan 26, 2023.

As you may be aware there is a social media post that has been circulating since last night. The KCK police are aware and have vetted the post. It appears to be a post from two months ago that has resurfaced. The police do not believe this is a credible threat to our school. We are being vigilant and have an extra police presence on campus today. The safety of our students, faculty and staff is first and foremost. Thank you, Dr. Michelle Olson Principal
