The Board of Trustees announces that Jay Dunlap has resigned as President of Bishop Ward High School. We are grateful to Jay for his many years of service to Ward. We believe he embodies the message of Christ and has done well to fulfill the mission to which we are called.
Jay has served as President of Bishop Ward High School for the past eight years. During his tenure, he has made numerous contributions to advancing our school's mission, including founding the St. Joseph Campaign. Through the campaign, we raised funds to provide students with state-of-the-art classrooms and technology, repair critical infrastructure, and make facility improvements, so Ward remains accessible to all who seek an excellent Catholic education.
As we look toward the future, we are committed to thoughtfully identifying what is needed to build a bright and thriving future for our school. Ward is a true gem in the Kansas City Metro area, and we value its history and deep roots, and recognize that we must be prudent in addressing the concerns of the community and our families.
Additional details regarding leadership during the transition will be shared in the coming weeks. In the meantime, the Board has confidence in Principal Kevin O’Brien’s ability to lead. It looks forward to working with him and the Archdiocesan Office of Catholic Schools as we plan for the future leadership of Ward.
As we begin this new chapter, we ask for your prayers for Jay, our school leadership, and the entire Ward community. May God continue to guide and bless our school as we continue forming our students to be servant leaders in the right relation with God, self, and others.
