This weekend students visited Emporia State University! They talked with academic programs, toured the campus, and cheered on the Hornets at their football game.

BWHS students Andres Torres, Isaiah Rosales and Giovanni Maradiaga-Abonce attended the National Institute for Construction Excellence Awards luncheon on October 29 to learn about careers in building trades. Employers were offering them careers on the spot!

BWHS students raised $10,788 for this year's Cambio Para Cambio campaign. Working with the Hispanic Development Fund, Cambio has students raising college scholarship funds for BW graduates. In its second year, Cambio more than doubled last year's total. Great job Cyclones!

Congratulations to Bishop Ward Senior Aliana Rodriguez, who was a featured speaker October 26 at #CEFKS Gaudeamus 2019, the major annual fundraiser for the Catholic Education Foundation. The event raised more than $1,979,000 for scholarships to Catholic schools, including Bishop Ward and our feeder grade schools. Way to go, Ali!

National Principal's Month - This year NHS is celebrating Dr. Olson with a weekly gift to show our thanks and appreciation for her hard work and dedication to Bishop Ward students, families, and staff. The second week of October the 2019-2020 NHS Officers and members gave Dr. Olson a loaf of bread from Ibis bakery.

Mr. Heying and Dr. Saatcioglu took 13 students to the Biotech Lab at the KU Edwards Campus. Students worked with Dr. Treml and Dr. Logan using biological systems to solve a scientific challenge. Students learned about careers in Biotechnology and how work in laboratories can positively impact our society.

Varsity Volleyball Team won the WYCO Tournament today. Only lost one set the whole day, back to back WYCO CHAMPS!!defeated Turner, Sumner, Harmon, and Wyandotte. WAY TO GO CYCLONES!!!

Bishop Ward senior Margarita Gonzalez received a National Catholic Education Association Seton Scholarship the evening of Monday, October 6, at the Gaylord National Resort in National Harbor, MD, just outside Washington, DC.
Bob and Amy Dunn of the Dunn Family Foundation and J E. Dunn Construction were there as well as the family and their Foundation were honored for their exemplary generosity and commitment to Catholic education.

BWHS Drama Club was invited to attend a special viewing of the Broadway musical βInto the Woodsβ at KCKCC! Bravo!!!

Students and families experienced the University of Kansas this weekend and learned about financial aid, the application process, and what it means to be a Jayhawk!
