Preparing to Shelter in Place

For the latest information about Coronavirus related closing visit our COVID-19 page.

Greetings, friends.

On Tuesday, March 24, the greater Kansas City community will move to a heightened state of emergency as a "Shelter in Place" order will take effect.

In order to make sure your families' needs are met, we are offering extended hours on Monday, March 23. Bishop Ward High School will be open until 7 PM. We urge you to take advantage of these extended hours for two purposes:

1. Students must clean out their lockers so they have all their books for their online classes through the rest of the semester. Please email Mrs. Sanchez, ssanchez@wardhigh.org, to arrange a time for your student to empty his or her locker some time between 7 AM and 7 PM on Monday, March 23. We know some have done so already, but many more need to do so and this is the last chance.

2. Students and parents can turn in their fundraising money and conduct any other transactions between 7:30 AM and 7 PM on Monday, March 23, at the Bishop Ward Business Office. No appointment is necessary.

Your timely response to this message will help assure all goes smoothly as we prepare for these new restrictions. Please be sure your student is fully equipped for continuing his or her studies for the rest of the term.

3. The order to shelter in place makes exceptions for needed errands such as getting food. Therefore, the "Grab and Go" food service will begin Monday, March 23, and continue daily through Friday.   Serving begins at 11:30am.   If you have not yet signed up your children to receive the day's lunch and a breakfast for the following morning, you can do so by contacting Chef Rick Atallah at ratallah@wardhigh.org.  All students can participate in this service, it is cost free.

Take care and God bless you all, Jay Dunlap, President Dr. Michelle Olson, Principal
