Dear Bishop Ward community,

In March of this year, Dr. Michelle Olson raised the possibility she could be moving away from Kansas City due to family circumstances. She has recently handed me her resignation, which states as follows:

"I will not be returning as Principal of Bishop Ward High School for the 2023-2024 school year. Our family will be moving out of the Kansas City Metro area this summer. I have enjoyed my time at Bishop Ward and hold fond memories of the successes our team has shared as we worked together to improve the opportunities for the families and students of Bishop Ward."

We thank Dr. Olson for her five years of service and we wish her and her family the very best in their new home.

Working in conjunction with the Catholic Schools Office and the Bishop Ward Board of Trustees, we have moved swiftly to arrange for an interim principal for the coming year. Greg Duggins will step aside from his role as Alumni Director to take on duties as Principal while continuing to serve as Head Football Coach.

Mr. Duggins has more than twenty years of experience at Bishop Ward, including years in administration as Dean of Students and Athletic Director. He has also served as principal at two Catholic grade schools in the Archdiocese.

Please join us in welcoming Mr. Duggins into his role even as we wish Dr. Olson a fond farewell.

Bishop Ward will conduct a full and thorough search for a new permanent principal during the upcoming school year.

Sincerely yours in Christ,
Jay Dunlap
