The Bishop Ward High School announces our new Head Coach for
the Girls’ Basketball Team will be Mr. John Coakley.
Mr. Coakley will be joining the Bishop Ward staff next year
as a teacher in the Math Department. He has been at
St. Pius X High School for the past 11 years. At St. Pius X,
Coakley served as the Boys’ Basketball Head Coach for six
years. During this time, his team won the district
championship in 2021 and was named the Class 3 District
15 Coach of the Year. He was also the Girls’ Basketball
Head Coach for two years, in 2010 and 2011. He was
named the West Central Conference Coach of the Year in
2011. He has been involved with coaching basketball on
the youth and high school levels for several years.
Mr. Mike Beaven, Bishop Ward Athletic Director, said, “I would like to welcome
Coach Coakley to the Cyclone Community. I wish him the best of luck next season!”
