COVID-19 Update

For the latest information about Coronavirus related closing visit our COVID-19 page.

Greetings,friends.

The Governor of Kansas has required all school buildings to close for classes, except under extremely limited situations, to stop the spread of COVID-19, the coronavirus.

Even so, we will continue to educate and feed your children while supporting your family as best we can.

I. Education

As happened during March 10-13 when we had an emergency sewer issue, our teachers will educate your students via Google Classroom, which the students can access on their Chromebook computers. We are blessed to be both well equipped to handle this crisis and well trained in using this technology.

In accordance with what the State of Kansas is asking of us and in agreement with the leadership of the other Catholic high schools in the Archdiocese, we will resume classes online through Google Classroom one week from today, Wednesday, March 25.

II. Food Program

We will continue to serve food to all students who want it. Our Chef, Rick Atallah, has been working closely with state authorities to make sure we can continue to help our students meet their nutritional needs. Here is how it will work:

  1. We will use the "grab and go" method. Starting Monday, March 23rd, students can come to the main entrance to receive a lunch for that day and breakfast for the following morning.
  2. Service time will be from 11:30 AM to 1:30PM
  3. The service is mainly for our students .
  4. It is Free Lunch for all students regardless of their Lunch Status (in other words, the meals are free even if you don't normally qualify for free and reduced-cost lunches).
  5. The student must be present to get the meal .
  6. Please contact Chef Rick at ratallah@wardhigh.org as soon as possible to let him know you want to participate in the food program. We need an accurate count.

III. Our Commitment to You

We at Bishop Ward High School remain committed to our mission of serving your families. The way we deliver our education services will be different for a few weeks, but the mission will move forward.

If we rally together with our best spirit, we will come through this challenge stronger and better. In many ways, it is a learning process for all of us. It is something we will talk about for generations to come. Onward Black and White!

Sincerely yours in Christ,
Mr. Jay Dunlap, President
