Bishop Ward High School is excited to announce that Mr. Tyler Heying will be the new Head Coach for the Girls’ Soccer program. This is Tyler’s first year at Bishop Ward, teaching in the Science Department. Athletic Director, Mr. Mike Beaven commented, “Coach Heying is a great addition to the staff of Bishop Ward High School. We are excited to welcome him to the Cyclone family. His enthusiasm and expertise will be a great asset to the Girls’ Soccer program.”
Coach Heying attended St. Thomas Aquinas High School in Overland Park, Kansas. While there, he played on the soccer team for four years, being a part of two state championships and one national championship. After high school, he attended Kansas State University to study Biology and Secondary Education. During his time there, he played for K-State’s men’s club soccer team and coached youth soccer. This past fall, Coach Heying was the Boys’ JV Soccer Coach and Varsity Assistant alongside Head Coach Art Conejo and Assistant Ramon Conejo.
Coach Heying remarked, “I have spent my whole life playing soccer and have enjoyed every moment doing so. That said, nothing compares to the excitement and passion I have for teaching the game of soccer to our student-athletes at Bishop Ward High School, and coaching them to excellence. Our students at Bishop Ward are blessed with such a supportive community and we are all blessed to have each of these students in our lives. I’m excited to be a member of the Cyclone Family and to coach the Girls’ Soccer team in the Spring. I am looking forward to seeing these student-athletes grow into respectable and hardworking adults.”
