Bishop Ward is always excited to host international students and this year is no different! Three students are joining the school, two from Spain and one from France.
Carla Rodriguez is 15 years old and comes from northern Spain. She has been a part of a hip-hop dance group since she was 4 years old and loves to sing and read. She would like to be an English teacher someday.
“I feel like being at Bishop Ward is like living in High School Musical, but without the musical,” said Carla.
Alejandra Jimenez is from a little village near the east coast of Spain. She is very close to her family and loves spending time with them. Her mother is her role model, “I really like the way she solves problems and how she talks with me, not like a regular mom, just like a friend. Also, my father has been the one that has supported me the most because he thinks that going to the States will help me to mature in a lot of aspects,” she said.
Maud Joannet is from Paris, France. She loves dancing and likes to watch videos of choreography. She also likes swimming, cooking for friends and family, watching movies, and reading adventure and romantic novels.
“I’m having a lot of fun at Bishop Ward, I am meeting a lot of nice people and I can be a part of many activities, so I am really living ‘my American dream’,” said Maud.
Bishop Ward is always looking for new host families. This is a great opportunity for families to learn about other cultures and give back to the community. Bishop Ward strongly believes that the growth of its international program will strengthen and impact the school and community.
