Bishop Ward High School

Be Active!

April 25, 2016 (Kansas City, Kan.): Bishop Ward High School hosted a community day focused on health and fitness.  Located in a county with many documented health challenges, Bishop Ward invited the entire community to come out for a FREE event on Saturday, April 23.

The day began with the annual Tour de Cyclone bicycle ride that attracted over 90 riders. This event was for the whole family and gave riders a chance to cycle through the historic neighborhoods of Wyandotte County.  Along with the bike ride, there were plenty of activities for fun as families were able to walk the track and games were provided throughout the day.

Beginning at 10:30 AM, Bishop Ward and the KC United Sports Initiative sponsored a Battle of the Badges, where the KCK Police department faced off against the KCK Fire Department in a game of flag football.

The day ended on a high note with the mighty Bishop Ward Cyclone’s facing off against the St. Mary’s Colgan Panthers of Pittsburg, Kans. The Cyclones drove in two runs in the bottom of the second with a double to put the Cyclones on top 4-2, a lead they wouldn’t forfeit with the Cyclones beating the Panthers 7-4.
