Students Learn to Dress for Success

October 27, 2015 (Kansas City, Kan.): A group of Bishop Ward High School sophomores that are members of the Academy of Finance learned an important life skill, how to “Dress for Success.” On Oct. 27 these students traveled to Macy’s in Oak Park Mall for Academy of Finance’s annual Dress for Success Field trip.
This trip gave students the opportunity to hear from Travis Rowden, Macy’s District Merchant and VPSM of Oak Park Macy’s, Jacqueline Shrum. Students learned the “Do’s” and “Don’ts” of selecting the right attire to make a great first impression. They were taught that it takes 7 seconds to make a first impression and you have no second chances to make a first impression. The key to dressing right? Dress conservative, professional, and comfortable!
Students heard an in-depth presentation then had the opportunity to take their new found knowledge to heart by shopping for a new professional piece to their closet!
The mission of the Academy of Finance is to prepare students for college and career paths, through rigorous and engaging projects which connect to real world experiences in the financial and business sector. This is one of the many “real-world” lessons that students who are a part of the Academy of Finance get to experience.
